palm springs shopping guide…

Palm Springs is a great city to find locally owned, art focused, and amazingly curated stores that specialize in vintage and rare finds. Art abounds in the desert…. and the small boutique owners here obviously love what they do and offer your eye and soul choices you could find no where else. Here are the shops I love for clients who want the unusual, investment and inspired pieces.

MarketMarket: This 4,000 square foot space just opened in 2020 is the vintage market of anyone dreams. Half is furniture and half fashion, all highly curated and awe-inspiring. It’s very up to date on trends and has an impressive selection of 70’s/80’s glam. It’s been honed relentlessly by the curating eye of the owner and priced accordingly. But wow, wow, wow….If you know what you are looking at you will want everything on display. Impressive.

The Shops at Thirteen Forty Five: I love the concept of this space that houses multiple boutiques privately curated under one impressive historical mid-century masterpiece roof! What is fun about this space is that you really feel the unique artistic sensibility of each individual owner/ artist shop. I loved the berber-Morracan carpets from Soukie Modern and ceramic and art deco small pottery/vases/art that you can find here.

A la mod: If you want pristine, mid-century investment pieces this is the place to find them. There is a subtle, sophisticated approach to mid-century in these vintage pieces that moves away from camp.

Vintage Markets: Every month there is an outdoor market where local vendors set up shop. It was much larger and more extensive than expected and had great finds at a great deal. I found the coolest steel and mink chair this year that I cannot wait to find the appropriate room for it to live in.

Allred Collaborative: This is a great place to find structural pieces that work well in any environment and align with the brutalism trend. Pieces here are universal… if you fall in love with one them you could put them in any room and they would work.

The Flippery: This shop is ideal for festival season with vintage fashion and accessories. It has an impressive array of colors and eras… a must see for vintage fashion lovers!
